May - Wrap Up
What were my goals for May?
Well I gave myself a target of reading the following 5 books:
⭐The Switch by Beth O'Leary
⭐Escaping From Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco
⭐Hold Back the Tide by Melinda Salisbury
⭐Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson
⭐Harry Potter and the Philosphers Stone by J.K. Rowling.
Throughout the month of May I managed to read 9 books and 4 of those were from my list!
The books I read were as follows:
📚 His Secretary's Nine Month Notice by Cathy Williams (30.04.2020-12.05.2020) ⭐⭐⭐
This was an okay read, it felt a bit slow but it ended with a happy ending as do all Mills and Boon books!
📚 Hold Back the Tide by Melinda Salisbury (09.05.2020-10.05.2020) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really enjoyed the story it was intense, thrilling and had so many twists and turns, and I love that it was set in Scotland. The one thing I will say about this story, is that it doesn't have a typical happy ending story, but it fits with the story and completely different to anything I've read previously.
📚 A Hidden Heir to Redeem Him by Dani Collins (10.05.2020-11.05.2020) ⭐⭐⭐
📚 The Spaniards Wedding Revenge by Jackie Ashenden (11.05.2020-12.05.2020) ⭐⭐⭐
📚 Claiming the Virgin's Baby by Jennie Lucas (12.05.2020-12.05.2020) ⭐⭐⭐
These were nice easy Mills and Boon reads, that I needed after the quite intense read of Hold Back the Tide.
📚 Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson (13.05.2020-15.05.2020) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I loved the first book, so I had high hopes for the sequel. I can safely say that it did no disappoint, I loved that it was still as intriguing with a fair few twists and turns as A Good Girls Guide to Murder.
Considering that I sometimes have a knack for guessing the villain or the why of crime dramas and a few thrillers I didn't guess the ending for this book! But I am very much looking forward to the next book.
📚 The Switch by Beth O'Leary (17.05.2020-20.05.2020) ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5.
I really enjoyed this book, it had some quite emotional parts and some moments that made me smile. I love the format of the book, each chapter goes to the main character, so that you grt more insight into the characters, which I find enjoyable.
📚 Harry Potter and the Philosphers Stone by J.K. Rowling (22.05.2020-27.05.2020) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A nice quick re-read of one of my favourite books!
Cinderella's Royal Secret by Lynne Graham (29.05.2020-31.05.2020) ⭐⭐⭐
The only book I didn't manage to read from my list was Escaping From Houdini, not for want of trying mind you! I started the book originally at the end of April, but I managed to get halfway and will aim to finish it in June.
June - To Be Read
I was very impressed with myself for managing to read 4 out of the 5 books I set for myelf and have decided to up my target to 7 books which are the following:
❤ Escaping From Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco
As I mentioned in the wrap up section, I'm over half finished so this should be an easy read.
❤ Capturing the Devil by Kerri Maniscalco
Once i've finished Escaping from Houdini, I plan to finish this series by completing the final book of the series!
❤ Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas
I have been wanting to read this book since it was released earlier in the year and I've been hearing a lot of good things about the book on Bookstagram.
❤ Slayer by Kiersten White
I've had this book on my shelf for a while, and I've been wanting to read it for ages.
❤ The Girl The Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young
I really enjoyed Adrienne Young's first novle, The Sky in the Deep, and I've been wanting to read it for ages.
❤ The Witcher: The Last Wish by Andrzey Sapkowski
I really enjoyed the TV show, so I'm determined to see what the books are like.
❤ Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
As I finished book 1 in May, and I'm going to read one Harry Potter book a month.
So there we have it, my May Wrap Up and my June To Be Read.
I hope you're all having a good day and staying safe.
Vanessa
