Week 13 of Lockdown!

13 Weeks of Lockdown...or the last week of my 20s!

Saturday 20th June
As you may remember from last weeks blog, today should have been my sisters wedding day, but due to Covid19, it has been postponed.
So she decided to throw a socially distanced non-wedding BBQ at our house to surprise my brother in law.
So from last weeks post, you may remember I set myself the task of making a cheesecake, well on saturday morning I added the strawberry glaze to it and then popped it back in the fridge to stay cool and set!
My parents decked out the back garden with a gazebo, just incase it decided to rain, as we all know that England is famed for rain when you want to do a bbq!
it was a really nice day, spent with family and actually really good weather.
my mum even made bouquets and button holes for us, just to make the day feel a bit more special.
The only downside was that my cheesecake didnt set, so it was more like an Eton Mess or as an Eton Ness as Natalie called it!

Sunday 21st June
I had decided last week when I was walking Barlow that I wanted to try and do a bit more exercise and for that I'm going to need new exercise gear so on Sunday morning me and mum decided to take a trip to Matalan to get some tops and leggings from there, as it was quicker than getting it online.

When we got home, I wanted to try reading a bit more of Slayer but I just cant get in to it, so I decided to continue my rewatch of Wynonna Earp.

We then had a visit from my sister in the afternoon, as she needed to pick up her car having left it at ours on the Saturday so we got to see her for a little bit.

Then at tea time, I decide to continue reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, before continuing with Wynonna Earp.

Monday 22nd June
So I had plans to do some studying this morning, but my nanas neighbour, the one who keeps loving her rubbish onto my nans side of her car port has been at it again, shes shoved a load of step ladders, plant pots, a wheel chair, her mobility scooter and burning bins all in my nans walkway.
So she called up my mum in tears and mum wanted to go and check on her, so she asked me to go with her.
By the time we had gotten back, I've decided to give my studying the heave ho for the rest of the week and just use the fact that it's my birthday this week as an excuse!

I did get some supplies to do some kore baking though, as me and some of the girls from work have decided to go on our rearranged picnic tomorrow, so I need to do some sausage rolls and more cookies!

I ended up making the cookies, but due to the pastry for the sausage rolls being frozen, I'd have to wait until tomorrow to make them!

After I finished baking i called my sister to see how she was and ended up doing a Harry Potter quiz over the phone with Cooper and Lola, and by quiz I mean tget asked me the questions and i answered them!
After we had tea, me and mum watched a bit of the first episode of the new Roswell New Mexico TV show, I love the original but this new version definitely seems like it'll stand on it's own, and me and mum have a new show to watch!

After that I went to bed to watch a bit more Wynonna Earp and read some more of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Tuesday 23rd June
As you will all undoubtedly know by now, Tuesday is a shopping day for my nana!
So off I went to Tesco to do her shopping, where it was reasonably quiet, so managed to get in and get her shopping done in under an hour! Which is pretty good going!
After I'd dropped off nanas shopping, I nipped into congleton town centre to see my friend Hannah, as she wanted to give me my birthday present off her. Even though we both couldnt stop for long, it was lovely seeing Hannah and having that little bit of human interaction.
After I left congleton, i headed to Sandbach to see my Nannie P, as she also wanted to give me her birthday present and a card for my niece, whose birthday is on Friday. It was lovely seeing Nannie, she treated me to a Magnum Ruby Chocolate Ice Cream and a cup of her brilliant coffee!
After spending an hour with Nannie I had to head home as I needed to make my sausage rolls.
I'm quite impressed at how these turned out! Normally I'd have asked mum to help, but she was working, so I had to do it all by myself!
Once they were cooked, I went to get changed ready to go out for our socially distanced picnic.

So myself, Beth, Lauren and Zoe went to Brereton Heath.
which I really nice scenic walk and resting area, and with the weather being warm, we found a nice sunny spot and had a lovely catch up chat with food and drink.

When I got home, I spent a bit of time watching tv with parents. After that i went upstairs, spoke to my sister and then decided to read some more Harry Potter.

Wednesday 24th June
So today is my 30th Birthday!

I did originally want a lie in on my birthday, but my mum wanted me to get up early so that I could spend the time before she went to work with her whilst I opened cards and presents.

After I'd had breakfast and mum had started work, I went upstairs and called both nans to thank them for their cards and gifts.
I then watched a film called Red Sea Diving Resort until lunch time.

I then came down and had lunch with mum and sat out in the garden for a little bit.

I then went back upstairs and read until tea time. After tea, my sister, brother in law and the kids came over to give me my birthday cards and presents.
Natalie and Wayne also made me my birthday cake, which they do every year and this years was coffee biscoff, they know how to make a good birthday cake!
When I thought about my 30th birthday, I didn't want to do anything, I passed the book to my sister to plan something as a surprise as I wasnt too bothered, and I'd planned to work through it this year as well.
Obviously with Covid19 interrupting the year, any plans she had were thrown out of the window so I cant say that I was disappointed with how the day turned out, in fact it was exactly how I wanted it, with my family and it also helped it was beautifully sunny!
I received some of the most beautiful, thoughtful and generally yummy presents from friends and family.
Thursday 25th June
When I found out that the 25th was going to be sunny I decided to treat myself to a day out to Chatsworth House, my favourite place to go and the place I always try and visit once a year, and it was also my first time away from home that wasnt local since March.

Getting to Chatsworth was a little bit of a nightmare. It should normally take about an hour to get there, but due to a road closure and temporary traffic lights in my local area it took me an hour to leave and then the normal hour to get there!

But get there I finally did and it was beautiful!
When I go to Chatsworth I usually go for a wander around the grounds, before I do anything else. So that's what I did, everytime I go I always end up finding nooks and crannies that I hadnt seen on previous visits.
I'll pop some pictures below.
But I always end my wanderings around the garden at the side of the house with the fountain.
After I'd done my wanderings I bought myself an icecream and sat in a shady spot under a tree.
After I finished my icecream I decided to go and sit next to the fountain at the side of the house and enjoyed some birthday cake and read a book on my Kindle.
By anout 4/5 ish I enjoyed some chips in the car  before heading home.

Overall it was a brilliant day!

Friday 26th June
Today is my niece Lola's 6th Birthday!

In the morning I did my parents shopping, as they had some house work they needed doing in the afternoon and I figured doing the shopping would be one less thing for them to do.
I managed to get the shopping done in about an hour, which is pretty good going for me!

When I got back I did some colouring of a colouring in print I had in my print stash, which had Captain Hook from Once Upon a Time and Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean on it for Lola, as she wanted something piratey for her birthday!

After I'd finished that I had lunch with mum and then spent some time in the garden on the garden swing and ended up having a small nap.

After tea, I went over to my sisters to give Lola her birthday present and card and to spend some time with her on her birthday.
I also got some of her birthday cake, which was yummy!
This week is always filled with cake!

But that is 13 weeks of lockdown over and done with!
It's been a week of loads of things going on, especially for lockdown.
Next week will resume normal boring proceedings!

I hope you've all had a good week and keeping safe.

Week 11 and 12 of Lockdown

11 weeks and counting!

Saturday 6th June
As with most weekends, it has been a very quiet reading filled weekend!
I finally finished Capturing the Devil, which means I've finally finished a series of books that I started 2 years ago, bought each subsequent sequel but never finished it!
This was a happy moment! This holds good promise for some of the other completed and unread series of books on my bookshelves! But it was such a good series, I did guess the villains early on in the books, but the writing was brilliant, and I would highly recommend.
After I finished reading, my parents had gone out for the afternoon, so i decided to make my self some food, but being the idiot I am, I stupidly burnt my hand whilst cooking some chicken, which meant that I had to have a cold compress on my hand throughout the rest of the evening, so it hindered quite a lot of things that I wanted to do.
I'd decided that I wanted to start Crescent City by Sarah J.Maas but due to the size of it, it meant I couldn't hold it one handed 🙈. So instead I decided to watch Maleficent mistress of evil, which I didnt finish due to falling asleep!

Sunday 7th June
Luckily when I woke up on Sunday morning the cold compress that I'd had on my hand all night had done its job and I wasnt experiencing any pain or stinging feeling.
So as a treat to myself i decided to make chocolate chip pancakes with bacon, I'm really enjoying making pancakes, they dont taste too bad either!
I then had some writing up of my week 10 of lockdown to finish and to get that uploaded. Whilst I was doing that I finished watching Maleficent, which wasnt too bad.

I then decided to start Crescent City, but I only managed a chapter before I fell asleep!

Monday 8th June
Monday was the first day that I decided to make a start on reading the course material for my human resource management course.
I have a business management degree that I completed 7 years ago, so I haven't had to study or do any reading that wasnt for pleasure in a long, long while so getting back into a studious frame of mind, even on the first day, has been difficult!
But I've decided to set myself a timetable. The first part of the morning, 9 till 11 is reading the course material. 11 till 12/1 is making some notes. 12 till 2 is lunch, sometimes I'll go earlier, but I try to have lunch with my mum who has her dinner at 1 till 2.
Then from 2 till 4ish I do a bit more reading that's not in the course material and have a look at what's needed for the assignments.

In the evening after I've had tea and spent time with the parents, I read some Crescent city, I'm now about 3 chapters in.

Tuesday 9th June
Tuesday isn't a day for unit work, Tuesday is a day of shopping! As you'll all know by now, on a Tuesday I do the shopping for my Nana, so I nipped to Tesco in the morning, and it was a really busy shopping day, so it took a bit longer than usual.

By the time I got home, it was time for lunch which I spent with mum.

Once lunch was finished, I went to read over some more of my course material.
After which it was my time to make tea, which I made a chicken pasta bake.

After tea I read 10 chapters of Crescent City, which I am really starting to enjoy, but that wasn't surprising as it's a Sarah J.Maas book!

Wednesday 10th June
Todays date is bringing me 2 weeks closer to my 30th birthday! Luckily I didnt have anything planned for it before Lockdown, so I havent had to cancel anything!

I did some reading over the assignment that I need to write up, which I'm going to try and finish by the end of this week. I'm going to try and do a unit a week or a unit every 2 weeks, depending on how I feel.
I had lunch with mum, I've been making the same lunch practically all week, it's a tuna mayo quesadilla melt, which is my new favourite food!
Just before we had lunch, I managed to capture these photos of Barlow sitting with my mum, whilst she was working!

In the evening I read another 12 chapters of Crescent City, which is becoming my new favourite book of the year, as I love it so much!

Thursday 11th June
Before I fell asleep last night, I decided that I hadnt seen my other nannie, since before lockdown, I've spoken to her on the phone and sent her cards but not physically seen her to make sure shes ok (she has a habit of saying shes fine, even if shes not!). So I decided that I would make some cookies for both my nans, my sister, brother in law and the kids, as I'd be out doing some shopping tomorrow, it was the perfect time to deliver cookies.
I had to nip to home bargain for cookie supplies in the morning of Thursday, again, it was another busy morning, so by the time I got home it was dinner time, which I spent with mum.

After the busy morning of shopping, I really couldnt be bothered doing more course work, so I watched another crime drama called Hinterland on Netflix.
When 5 o'clock hit I made a start on baking my cookies, I decided to make 2 different kinds, a chocolate chip maple spice and a chocolate caramel with smarties. This took me a fair few hours, and I think I ended up making around 60 to 70 cookies!
To make them a little more special, I popped them into some little plastic bags and added a ribbon to them.
Because I was so tired from baking all the cookies, I didnt even want any tea, so I decided to have an early night, which also resulted in me only reading 3 chapters of Crescent City before falling asleep.

Friday 12th June
As with most Fridays, I go to the local farm shop to get my nana some fresh meat, which was my morning, I also gave her some of the cookies that is made, which she seemed to enjoy!

Then I went over to see Nannie P (that's what we call her!). It was so nice seeing her, a couple of years ago I used to see her at least once a week, but since changing jobs, it's more like every month.
I made sure to spend a bit more time with Nannie, so we could catch up and I could make sure shes ok, she also made me a coffee (she makes the best coffee, I dont know how she does it, but it's good!).
Considering I'm still furloughed at the moment, I'm going to make sure I go and see her more, just so me and my sisters know shes ok.

Whilst I was at my nannies, I text my friend Lauren to see if she was free for me to pop over, as shes only a 15 minute drive away, so that I could give her the canvas I did for her and I popped some of the cookies into a bag for her so that she could have some as well.
It was lovely seeing Lauren as well today, we talk over text and messenger but it's so nice seeing and talking to her in person! Hopefully the weather will decide to change for the better and we can rearrange our socially distanced picnic!

I got home about late afternoon, as was I going to visit my sister to drop off her cookies, but she was shopping.
But she did pop over later in the evening to collect her cookies!

So thats week 11 all over and done with!

I had an issue accessing Blogger over the weekend, so I've decided rather than having 2 separate posts, I'm just going to combine the 2 weeks!

Week 12!
3 Months......12 Weeks...77 Days...1848 Hours....

Saturday 13th June
A weekend again...A quiet weekend approaches!
I didnt really do anything on Saturday, I spent most of the day reading Crescent City.
But I did have a visit of one of my friends Hannah, as she had just completed a 10 mile walk for charity and she came over for a catch up chat and to collect her birthday present.
Later in the evening the parentals went to one of their friends house for a meal, so I decided to treat myself to a takeaway, which was amazing!
As the parents were out it meant I was on puppy duty so I had a fun evening of Barlow jumping on me!
Sunday 14th June
Sunday again was a nice quiet day, I basically spent my day reading Crescent City and managed to finish it late sunday evening.
No idea what I'm going to read next, even with my list, as the end of Crescent City has drained me, I cried so much over the last 3 to 4 chapters it was so good!

Monday 15th June
When I was at school and at uni, when I used to complete assignments, I could never start by typing it up on a PC, I had to had write it and then type it up, completely strange, I know but it works for me!
So for the morning I spent it handwriting the first part of the assignment whilst I was downloading Word.
In the afternoon i spent it transferring the details over to the PC.

After yesterdays cry fest and feeling completely lost at the end of Crescent City I decided to start Slayer by Kiersten White, the 4th book on my TBR list.
I did decide to also start a Mills and Boon book, which I finished the same night!

Tuesday 16th June
Tuesday morning I got my order fro What The Fudge, a treat to myself for my birthday next week.
I then spent the morning and early afternoon completing the final part of my assignment and getting that uploaded and sent across to be marked.
I'll make a start on my next unit tomorrow and have the afternoon off watching some more episodes of Hinterland whilst also drafting some new blog posts.
I ended the day reading a chapter of Slayer, not sure what I think about this book yet, before reading an entire Mills and Boon book again! It's so easy to do!

Wednesday 17th June
Mum has decided that she wants to make a cheesecake, so I headed out to tesco to get her the supplies she needed.

When I came back I spent the remainder of the morning updating my goodreads details.
I did take a cursory glance at unit 2 of my course and managed to read the first page, but I just couldn't concentrate.
To take my mind away, I decided to take Barlow for a walk, which really was needed just clear a few of the cobwebs away.
When it was bed time, I fell asleep by 8.30pm but woke up at 11pm and then couldn't sleep, so I read another chapter of Slayer. Before doing a shed load of Buzzfeed quizzes!
I think I eventually fell asleep by 3.30am

Thursday 18th June
Thursday was a studying day, so similar to last week, I started reading the course material in the morning.
I spent my dinner time with mum and then spent the remainder of the afternoon watching a bit of TV as my concentration was shot.

Thursday evening, I couldn't concentrate on any book, I tried Slayer, nothing. I tried 2 Mills and Boon books, nothing. I tried Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, nothing. I tried The Witcher, I think I fell asleep whilst reading the first chapter!

Friday 19th June
Tomorrow, Saturday 20th June my sister and brother in law should have been getting married, but due to Covid19, it has had to have been postponed. Earlier in the week my sister decided that she wanted to do a surprise socially distanced BBQ at our house for Wayne, so I decided to do some baking for the food, and I had to make some cookies anyway for Lola, my niece as she had asked me to make some for her for Wayne for Father's Day on the Sunday.
I decided to make the strawberry cheesecake that mum was going to make but cos she was working and going to see some friends in the evening, I said I'd do it for her, as I needed something to do!

I did have to nip to home bargains again as we didnt have a cheesecake tin.

I made the cheesecake and popped that into the fridge to set till tomorrow, at which point I would add the strawberry glaze.
Whilst I was on my baking mission I decided to make brownies as well, and added biscoff to half and white and milk choc chunks to the other half.

Once those bakes had been done, I decided to make a start in the cookies.
The cookies were a disaster! I'm not sure where I went wrong but I did, and the mixture was too wet for cookies, so it eventually turned into a triple chocolate cookie/blondie/cake batter result instead!
luckily they tasted quite good!

After I'd finished baking I decided to treat myself to re-watching Wynonna Earp! And then going to bed!

So there you have it, weeks 11 and 12 in lockdown.
I hope you're all keeping safe.

Vanessa 😊

Week 10 of Lockdown

10 weeks of lockdown....it feels like it's ever ending!

Saturday 30th May
After last weeks local socially distanced walk, me and ky friend Nay decided to walk up to Mow Cop Castle, which is a local landmark on the border between the counties of Cheshire and Staffirdshire.
So I started off by walking to Nays house, so that we could walk from her house up the way to Mow Cop.
It was a really enjoyable walk, even though I probably annoyed Nay by having multiple breaks to get my breath! 🙈
We passed by some fields with horses in that kept an eye on us!
The below picture was our we're nearly there!
Then we got to this point which was a relief for me!
Then we finally made it to Mow Cop!
The one thing about this walk is the views we can across, in the above picture I was able to see all the way across to the telescope Jodrell Bank.

The walk back down the way was much quicker!
When I got home, I did a small quiz with my sister and Nay as Natalie wanted to try out some of the quizzes she had bought. It was a lovely way to end a busy Saturday.

Sunday 31st May
Sunday was another quiet day which I spent reading Escaping from Houdini and just being chilled.

Monday 1st June
I had an awful nights sleep, I kept waking up and i dont know whether it was part of my dream, but I felt someone grab my hair and pull my head back...but obviously theres no one there, so that freaked me out a bit waking up.
Monday hasn't been the best and it all stems from my step dad. As I overheard him shouting at my mum who was having technical issues which somehow meant he had to have a go at me, even though I'm nowhere near him, or I've even done anything, but he always seems to have to find some way of having a go at me. And apparently all I do is 'f**king sit up there and do 'f**k all'.
I dont think he realises I'd much rather be at work and keeping busy, but what am I meant to do? There is nothing to do!
I cant wait to return to work as then I'd barely be at home!

Later on in the day, my sister text me to say that she was going across to my nanas with the kids and did I want to join. So at about 3ish I went to nanas and had a socially distanced tea with my sister and the kids and Barlow, who loved seeing my sister, apart from my mum, natalie is one of his favourite people!
I then came home and continued to read Escaping from Houdini.

Tuesday 2nd June
I spent most of my Tuesday sat in my nanas garden as shes having issues with her neighbour, who keeps encroaching on to her side of the garden and my mum wanted me to stay with her till someone from her housing association came to take photos.

I spent my time continuing on with some painting and reading.
By the time if come home I finally managed to finish off Escaping from Houdini and whilst I was on a role, I've decided to start Capturing the Devil straight away, incase I lose momentum!
In the evening i decided to start watching the 100 from the beginning, so that I can be ready for when the final season starts in the UK whenever that will be.

Wednesday 3rd June
Earlier on in the week myself and some friends from work decided to have a socially distanced picnic on thursday, and I decided to make some cookies and sausage rolls so I took a trip to Tesco to get some baking supplies.

When I came back I decided to take some photos for bookstagram, so that I could have a couple of weeks worth, including uploading photos for my May Wrap Up and June TBR and getting that blog post uploaded.
Whilst I was taking my photos I continued watching the 100 in the background, which is still such a good show!

When 5 o'clock hit I went downstairs and started my baking for the picnic. I decided to make some Maple Spice chocolate chip cookies, and they were so so good!
I then made a start on some sausage and cheese rolls.

Thursday 4th June
Due to the weather change....cold and wet, we decided to put our picnic on hold. None of us deal well with the cold weather, me especially as I still wear jumpers and cardigans at the height of summer!
So I decided to go and take some of the left over cookies to my sister so that I could see her and the kids, even if it was just a doorstep chat for 5 minutes.
When I got back I continued watching Jamestown and then I decided to start watching the Dresden Files.

Friday 5th June
Early friday morning I nipped to the local farm and got the meat that my nana wanted.
When I came back I read some more of Caprtuing the Devil, which I am really enjoying and this is also the quickest I've been reading one of the books from this series.

Once I'd read a bit I decided to look into doing some courses, and I was able to sign up for an online HR management course, to keep me occupied and also to add something extra to my CV for when Lockdown and Furlough is over.
Towards the later evening I continued on with my watching of the Dresden Files.

So that concludes my 10th week of lockdown, how have you spent this week?

I hope you're all keeping safe.
